1000 centenarians to be honoured in our European countries from June 28 to July 2, 2021

With more than 26,500 centenarians, France holds the European record for longevity. On the occasion of the 5th edition of National Centenarians Day, Korian are celebrating their centenarians during the entire week of June 28 to July 2, 2021

Created by Korian in 2017, the event will honour more than 1,000 centenarians this year and mobilize a very large portion of their nursing homes throughout France, Germany and Italy.

« In France for instance, we observe that between 2019 and today, the number of centenarians in our facilities has increased from 600 to 800 people. Those who join us are older and older. Often coming from a very active life, they seek and find in our homes a social and cultural environment, a healthy diet and adapted physical activities. Thanks to this quality of life, they sometimes live there for up to 10 or 15 years and become centenarians" explains Fabira Kabirian, Medical Director of Korian in France.

Korian - honouring our Centenarians

All the care, facilitation and catering teams will be keen to prepare an especially memorable day. Residents who wish to do so will be able to share their secrets of longevity. In most regions, there will be great opportunities for exchanges with centenarians, their families and friends, and the staff.

AIn the house Das Geheimnis des Alters, in Bavaria (Germany), there is an exhibition of photos by the famous fashion photographer and traveler, René Schwerdtel, a specialist in portraits of centenarians, who has photographed three of our centenarians.

In Germany, our homes also take advantage of Centenarian’s Day to make the dreams of the residents who have passed the 100-year mark come true.

In France and Italy, activities take place throughout the week. Among them, the "secrets game". A great opportunity for our elderly residents to share their life stories, their little secrets and to give them the chance to speak upes. In addition, intergenerational culinary workshops will be organized for the centenarians, plus festive lunches and snacks...

Déjeuners et goûters festifs sont également au programme dans de nombreux établissements.
