Diversity and inclusion
The diversity of our staff, and of their backgrounds and experiences, are what creates Korian’s social and human wealth.
The Group is committed to leading by example in terms of inclusion, and to fostering a work environment in which differences can thrive and contribute to the well-being of our patients and residents.
Diversity and inclusion is one of the pillars of the way we operate, and an integral part of our values.
FOSTERING AN INCREASINGLY INCLUSIVE AND CARING ORGANISATION
Korian is committed to creating an inclusive work environment that enables all staff to realise their full potential.
Teams rich in diversity
In France, "Mission Handicap" has been offering personalised support to help disabled staff find and keep jobs since 2014.
Korian is also a co-founding member, with the FACE Foundation for action against exclusion, of the first European network of companies committed to combating violence against women, “One In Three Women”, alongside Kering, Carrefour, SNCF, OuiCare and L'Oréal.
Several tools have been put in place by the European consortium, and in 2020 Korian will continue its work with the European "CEASE" "One In Three Women" programme to improve conditions for awareness of and dealing with violence against women.
Korian is one of the companies that signed the ‘Autre Cercle’ (other circle) charter to support the inclusion of LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender) people in France.
Korian is one of the founding members of the ‘Collectif des entreprises pour une économie inclusive’ (business collective for an inclusive economy). This collective aims to open up our job offers to the people most isolated from the job market, in particular by developing numerous actions to benefit inhabitants of priority neighbourhoods in towns and cities. Korian joined the collective of large companies for an inclusive economy at the end of 2018, and is now developing numerous actions targeting districts identified as priority areas for development. In 2020, in response to the Covid crisis, the Group created a "Covid solidarity fund" which helps to develop solidarity actions, from both a scientific and a social perspective, particularly for women in vulnerable situations.
Korian in France is also a partner of the ‘Union Nationale des Missions Locales’ (national union of local missions) and the ‘Ecoles de la Deuxième Chance’ (Second Chance Schools) network, thus providing the young people supported by these organisations with support to access the elderly-care professions.
Gender Professional Equality Index between women and men
In 2021, Korian's management and the trade unions signed an agreement in favor of professional equality between women and men.
It guarantees equal treatment in terms of recruitment and access to training, and provides for measures to promote the articulation between professional life and family responsibility. At Korian, each woman benefits from real career development prospects and full pay parity.
Korian has established the new gender equality index for the year 2022 at the level of the Korian France SIU, published on March 1, 2023.
This index, provided for by the law for the freedom to choose one's professional future of September 05, 2018, is based on the evaluation of five indicators making it possible to measure where the company is in terms of professional equality:
The results obtained by indicator are as follows:
- Elimination of pay gaps between women and men: 38 points
- Same chance of having a raise for women as for men: 20 points
- Equal chance of getting a promotion for women as for men: 15 points
- All employees increased upon their return from maternity leave: 15 points
- Number of women and men in the top 10 earners: 5 points
Out of 100 points in total, Korian scored 93 points, identical index to the year 2021.
INCLUSION OF DISABILITY: RECOGNISING EACH PERSON’S SKILLS
Promoting the employment of people with disabilities is a matter of course in all countries in which the Group is present. Korian is committed to integrating disabled staff and ensuring that they have the same opportunities as all staff.
In France, our agreements supporting disabled workers and their employment are as follows:
- 2014 - Signing of the 1st agreement on employment and disability. Employment rate reached at the end of the 1st agreement (5.06%)
- 2017 - Renewal of the agreement for 3 years
- Agreement signed unanimously by the 4 representative trade union organisations
Since June 2019, we have been a partner of Hello Handicap, a virtual recruitment fair specifically dedicated to disabled workers who are passionate about the care sector. At our most recent event in July 2020, we offered 3,000 positions to be filled throughout France.
In France, Korian is an active participant in European Disability Employment Week. Activities include information and awareness-raising for teams.
In Spain, the Group has signed a partnership with ILUNION, as a special employment centre for people with disabilities.
