Opening of our Respiratory Rehabilitation Service on the premises of the Cotentin Public Hospital Centre (CHPC)

Healthcare facilities and services

The post-acute and Rehabilitation care Facility (SSR) specialising in respiratory rehabilitation, offered by our clinic the Korian L’ Estran , opened its doors on 23rd November at the Centre Hospitalier Public du Cotentin (CHPC). This new care offer, which benefits from the support of the Normandy Regional Health Agency, provides access to local care for patients from the North Cotentin region. It is the result of collaboration between our teams and those of the CHPC.

This cooperation is effective on several aspects :

• Medical and care: professionals from the CHPC's pneumology department are involved in the follow-up of patients supported by our care and rehabilitation department. This is notably the case of Dr Gabriel Le Moel, head of the pneumology department, who initiated the integration of this service within the CHPC and who collaborates with Dr Camille ATALAY, doctor in charge of the follow-up care and rehabilitation service of respiratory rehabilitation Korian.

• Logistics and techniques: catering, laundry, pharmacy and maintenance of the Korian follow-up care and rehabilitation service are provided by the CHPC teams.

The spaces, located on the 5th floor, have been renovated and fitted out by Korian to be adapted to the organisation of respiratory rehabilitation programmes.

Depending on their state of health, patients are accommodated in full hospitalisation, with an accommodation capacity of 20 beds, or in a day hospital.

The proposed respiratory rehabilitation programmes improve the autonomy and quality of life of patients with respiratory discomfort (dyspnea). They are aimed at people suffering from chronic respiratory pathologies including respiratory insufficiency, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), chronic bronchitis, asthma, sleep apnea syndrome. They can also be prescribed in preparation for thoracic surgery.

This care is provided by a multidisciplinary care team, made up of teachers of adapted physical activity, physiotherapists, nurses, a dietician and a psychologist, under the responsibility of a respiratory doctor and a doctor specialising in respiratory rehabilitation. It includes effort re-training activities, therapeutic education (understanding of the disease, treatment management, etc.) as well as nutritional, psychological and social follow-up.
